O livro que vou falar hoje chama-se "Adeus, Berlim", da Editorial Presença e foi escrito por Wolfgang Herrndorf.

The book I'll be reviewing today is "Why We Took The Car" by Wolfgang Herrndorf.
Sinopse: "Com a sua mãe alcoólica mais uma vez internada e o pai em viagem de negócios com a sua jovem assistente, Maik Klingenberg fica sozinho em casa naquelas férias e, sem nada para fazer, sente-se absolutamente entediado. É então que Tschick, filho de imigrantes russos pobres, aparece num velho jipe roubado. Por um acaso do destino, estudam ambos na mesma escola e na mesma turma e, apesar da origem social tão diversa, são ambos postos de parte pelos colegas. A prova é que Tatjana, a rapariga por quem Maik está apaixonado, não se deu ao cuidado de os convidar para a sua festa de aniversário. Por isso decidem partir completamente à aventura para a Valáquia, no Sul da Alemanha. Ambos têm 14 anos e a sua busca é determinada pelo desejo de experimentarem uma liberdade absoluta. A viagem é bastante atribulada e cheia de peripécias, mas nada altera a boa disposição dos dois rapazes."
Opinião Pessoal: Quando escolhi as leituras para o Verão (
aqui), pensei imediatamente em "Adeus, Berlim" por ser um livro com uma temática que me interessa, cheio de ação, tendo construído grandes expectativas em relação ao mesmo.
236 páginas depois, venho a constatar que as minhas esperanças estavam corretas. É um livro super fluído, em que há uma continuidade lógica dos acontecimentos que, por sua vez, são sempre diferentes e nada monótonos.
A inserção de eventos inusitados mantém o leitor agarrado desde a primeira página, querendo sempre saber mais sobre as aventuras de Tschick e Maik.
Porém, este livro pretende fazer com que o leitor pense sobre o que levou estes dois rapazes a tomarem esta decisão e retrata tantos sentimentos comuns aos que os adultos vivenciam.
Classificação: 9/10 (Ótimo!)

Why We Took The Car
Plot: "Mike Klingenberg doesn't get why people think he's boring. Sure, he doesn't have many friends. (Okay, zero friends.) And everyone laughs at him when he reads his essays out loud in class. And he's never invited to parties - including the gorgeous Tatiana's party of the year.
Andre Tschichatschow, aka Tschick (not even the teachers can pronounce his name), is new in school, and a whole different kind of unpopular. He always looks like he's just been in a fight, his clothes are tragic, and he never talks to anyone.
But one day Tschick shows up at Mike's house out of the blue. Turns out he wasn't invited to Tatiana's party either, and he's ready to do something about it. Forget the popular kids: Together, Mike and Tschick are heading out on a road trip. No parents, no map, no destination. Will they get hopelessly lost in the middle of nowhere? Probably. Will they meet crazy people and get into serious trouble? Definitely. But will they ever be called boring again?

Personal Opinion: When I picked my summer readings (
here) I immediately thought about "Why We Took The Car" because it's all about adventure, which I'm very interested in.
I built super high expectations and after 236 pages, I come to the conclusion that all my hopes were correct. This is a very funny, adventurous and deep book that leaves you to imagine all the great things these boys did but also it makes you understand that what they are feeling is similar to what adults experience and makes sense.
