"Washington Square" de/by Henry James - Crítica/Review

Sinopse: Não encontrei a sinopse em Português. Caso estejam interessados, mais a baixo, em Inglês, está lá tudo.

Opinião Pessoal: Este livro não é o original, mas sim uma adaptação por Kieran McGovern. Quanto ao publicado por Henry James, ainda não o li.
Esta obra faz parte da coleção Oxford Bookworms, que se destina a facilitar a leitura a pessoas cuja língua materna não seja o inglês.
McGovern dá-nos a conhecer a história de amor, ainda que muito atribulada, de Catherine e Morris Townsend. Filha única de um médico rico e sendo ela uma pessoa desinteressante e tímida, é cobiçada pela fortuna que irá herdar depois da morte de seu pai.
Será que o jovem Townsend gosta mesmo dela?
Eu gostei deste livro e achei-o uma leitura muito fácil, porém acho que nesta adaptação a história inicial foi muito resumida, não deixando espaço para o leitor perceber, à medida que o tempo vai passando, o desenrolar da ação.

Classificação: 6/10 (Razoável!)

Plot: "When a handsome young man begins to court Catherine Sloper, she feels she is very lucky. She is a quiet, gentle girl, but neither beautiful nor clever; no one had ever admired her before, or come to the front parlour of her home in Washington Square to whisper soft words of love to her.

But in New York in the 1840s young ladies are not free to marry where they please. Catherine must have her father's permission, and Dr Sloper is a rich man. One day Catherine will have a fortune of 30,000 dollars a year..."

Personal Opinion: This book is, actually, not the original but it has been adapted by Kieran McGovern. The one written by Henry James is still not part of my "Read Books" list.

This one is part of the collection Oxford Bookworms which is better for people who are learning English. 

McGovern tells us about Catherine and Morris's love story. She is an only child of a wealthy doctor and, because she's not very pretty nor interesting, men only court her due to the money she will inherit.

Does Townsend really loves her?

I liked this book and think that's a good easy reading, though it seems that the plot is very summarize which doesn't let the reader fully understand how time evolves.

Rate: 6/10 (Fair Enough!)

Back to School Haul

A escola está a começar (ou já começou para alguns de vocês) e por isso, decidi trazer ao blogue uma haul, que não é de livros mas sim de cadernos para a escola!

School is starting (or has already for some of you) so I decided to do a haul which is not about books but, instead, about notebooks!

 

Todos os cadernos são da Tiger ou da Oxford. 

Como se pode ver, escolhi todos os cadernos nos mesmos tons que são o preto, azul e tons claros.

All the products are from Tiger or Oxford.

As you can see, I chose all the notebooks in the same colours: black, blue, and lighter tones.

Primeiro / First One:

 

 

Assim que o vi, na montra da Tiger, soube logo que o tinha de trazer. 

Apesar de não ser A4, é super lindíssimo, a imitar pedra.

Right when I saw it, on Tiger, I knew I had to get it.

Altought is not A4 is super gorgeous, looking like marble.

Segundo / Second One:

 

Este também é da Tiger e retrata uma Tabela Periódica dos Elementos. 

É divertido, cheio de cores e surpreendente!

This one is also from Tiger and shows The Periodic Table of the Elements.

It's funny, colourful and surprising!

Terceiro / Third One:

 

Sendo outra vez da Tiger, apaixonei-me instantaneamente pelo padrão forte, vivo e girissímo!

Being again from Tiger, I fell in love with the pattern! Strong, alive and cute! 

 Até agora, falei de cadernos coloridos, que já estão decorados, porém, vou mostrar agora alternativas: cadernos lisos, de só uma cor, que se podem decorar à vontade do freguês!

Until now, I talked about notebooks that already have a pattern or that are already decorated. However, I'm going to show ones that are just one colour and that can be decorated as each one likes.

Quarto / Forth One:

Os próximos dois cadernos são da Oxford.

Como já tinha todos os outros com padrões, decidi comprar este, um pouco mais sóbrio dando-me a opção de poder decorá-lo a gosto.

The next two notebooks are from Oxford.

Because I had the other ones filled with patterns, I decided to buy this one which is a little bit more sober and I can decorate as I want.

 Quinto /  Fifth One: 

 

A ideia por trás desta compra foi a mesma do caderno preto: um pouco mais sóbrio e poder decorar se me apetecesse, porém gosto tanto desta cor que a vou manter assim.

I was thinking to also decorate this one but I love this colour so much that I'm keeping it this way.

Portanto, estas são as minhas opções e ideias para o começo das aulas...
